High-quality physiotherapy care

Our Approach

Physiotherapy at KinCoast is centered around understanding movement, not just treating pain. We focus on identifying the root cause of symptoms and building a plan that supports lasting improvement.

Our care emphasizes:

  • Thorough assessment and clinical reasoning

  • Education to support long-term independence

We believe better outcomes come from collaboration, clear communication, and personalized treatment plans.

Mitch Laidler
Physiotherapist

Mitch received his Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 2014. He then practiced in private clinics treating all injury types while also spending evenings and weekends as a sports trainer for a local sporting team.

Before pursuing physiotherapy, Mitch worked as a personal trainer in Western Sydney, and has a Rugby Union sporting background playing for Parramatta, Gordon Rugby Union Club, and represented the state of New South Wales (Under 17s).

He is an internationally certified physiotherapist in both Canada and Australia, and is proficient in dry needling (IMS) and vestibular conditions (vertigo, dizziness, imbalance). Mitch is has additional training on concussion disorders as a Complete Concussion Management Institute Certification.

Outside the clinic Mitch enjoys the outdoors, hiking and kayaking. His number 1 destressing activity is gaming, but also enjoys reading and spending lots of time snuggling his cat and dog.

Ruxi Oala
Physiotherapist

Ruxi received her Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 2016. She then practiced in private clinics in the Lower Mainland, as well as managing pediatric home visits outside of clinic hours. Ruxi also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology from SFU.

She is an internationally certified physiotherapist in both Canada and Australia, and is a trauma-informed clinician with additional certifications in Chronic Pain, Brain Story Certification from Alberta Family Wellness, as well as Dynamic Core For Kids (Module 1).

Outside of work Ruxi enjoys reading fiction novels, playing tennis, and getting out in nature as much as possible with hiking and kayaking at the top of the list.

Taylor Gaines
Physiotherapist

Taylor received her Master’s in Physiotherapy Studies from The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. Taylor’s keen interest in the “why” behind human kinetics, exercise rehab, and injury was fostered when she acquired her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree at The University of Vermont where she also competed as Division 1 NCAA Field Hockey athlete.

Despite having the privilege to play D1 University field hockey, she spent much of her athletic career also nursing many injuries – which continued to nurture her passion for pursuing a physio career. Following her undergrad Taylor attained a National Strength and Conditioning Association certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

As a clinician, Taylor believes in the power of continuing to evolve, reflect and learn to expand her skillset to become refined and resourceful to clients. It is her goal to determine the root cause of an injury or pathology, use evidence-based tools and modalities to treat it, provide transparency and honesty through education, and empower her clients to take an active role in their rehab. It is also important to Taylor to provide clients with sincere care to allow them to feel understood, utilize appropriate tools to help them achieve their goals, regain functional normalcy, overcome any complexities of their mental circumstances, and ultimately leave clients better than she found them.

In Taylor’s spare time, she loves getting caught up in a good book with a cheeky coffee or chai latte, enjoys field hockey and lifting at the gym, trying new recipes and travelling. With that, Taylor would love the opportunity to have the sincere pleasure of working with you to bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.

Ting Ruei (Alan) Chang
Physiotherapist

Alan is committed to delivering high-quality care to all individuals focusing on exercise prescription, manual therapy, and client education. His clinical interests include the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and supporting clients in returning to their activities at, or beyond, their previous level of performance. Alan completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia, followed by a Master of Physical Therapy at the University of Western Ontario. He also holds certification in Soft Tissue Release (Level 1).

Alan’s interest in working with active individuals is rooted in his own background as a competitive baseball and basketball player, as well as his experience as a municipal lifeguard. More recently, he has developed a strong passion for running and cycling, and has competed in triathlons and marathons since 2021. Prior to beginning his physiotherapy studies, Alan worked as a Kinesiologist for one year and later completed a clinical placement in a private practice setting, where he gained experience working with athletes. In addition, Alan is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, which allows him to provide care in both English and Chinese.

Outside of the clinic, Alan is actively training with the goal of completing a full Ironman in the coming years. He also enjoys running with his dog, weightlifting, skiing, and playing the piano.

Shawna St-Hilaire
Client Liaison

Shawna graduated from CDI and received her M.O.A diploma in 2010. Since then, she has worked in different Physiotherapy clinics in the Lower Mainland.

In her younger years, Shawna played the guitar, played rugby for Dr. Charles Best Secondary, and was a Cheerleader for Coquitlam Minor Football Association.

In her spare time, Shawna enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family, trying new foods, and going on adventures. Shawna also loves being in nature, travelling B.C with her family, and animals (she has a cat named Wilson and a dog named Honey at home).

Sharon Quan
Clinic Manager

Sharon is our admin All-Star with more than 8 years of experience working in clinics alongside physiotherapists. She is a marvel with keeping us all organized and has a keen eye for details.

She is well versed in ICBC Claims, WorkSafe Claims, Medical Service Plan Clients (MSP) and Private Insurance billings. If you have a question, she is the best person to ask!

Sharon loves animals and adores her rabbit, Beau. On her spare time, she enjoys cooking, listening to crime podcasts, and weightlifting. Once in a while, she’ll be engrossed in a new TV series or video game!

Drew Wilson
Registered Massage Therapist

Drew graduated from the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy in 2019 and is thrilled to be joining the team at KinCoast. He is currently welcoming both new and returning patients.

Originally from Fort McMurray, Alberta, Drew moved to Whistler, BC in 2011, drawn by his passion for snowboarding and the outdoors. After sustaining several snowboarding-related injuries, Drew developed a strong interest in rehabilitation and recovery. This passion eventually led him to pursue the 3000-hour full-time RMT program at VCMT, where he could combine his hands-on skills with a deeper understanding of human movement and healing.

During his clinical internship, Drew worked in a range of outreach settings across Vancouver, including with the St. George’s athletic teams, CrossFit facilities, Ronald McDonald House, and various pre- and post-marathon events. He has experience treating a broad spectrum of conditions, including (but not limited to) nerve compression injuries, repetitive strain injuries, sprains, whiplash-associated disorders (WAD), adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder), migraines, and sports-related injuries.

Drew uses a combination of myofascial release, joint mobilizations, and active stretching to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs.

Drew and his family currently reside in Burke Mountain, Coquitlam. Outside the clinic, Drew enjoys hockey, golfing, snowboarding, and his greatest passion—mountain biking.
